DIY Newspaper Christmas Decor | Easy and WAY cute

Hello everyone! Can you believe it's already Friday? Ahh weekends, I just love you so very much.
This (old, but oh so cute) picture below is of my cute cousin, her daughter who is 2 and her husband. Cute pic right? Well, today I am very excited to have Brittney show you all a very cute project she has been working on. She is so creative and literally comes up with the cutest things to make. I just had to have her write something for you all. Thanks again Britt!

                                         .......................................................................................................

Hello out there!  I’m Kallie’s [favorite ;) ] cousin, Brittney.  Kallie asked me to put a few of my crafts up on her blog.  So, here you go, doll!

Alrighty; so a project that has been improved on every year is, my Christmas decor.  I made my own ornaments the first Christmas my hubby and I were married.  And I even came up with the idea on my own; although I have seen a few like it on Pinterest.  Super easy ornaments so do on your own.  You can use either newspaper, other crafty paper, or magazines.  I purchased my ornaments on clearance right after Christmas so they were way cheap and it didn't matter if they were ugly because they would be covered up anyway.

I found one of my 2 year- old, Goober-Smooch's binkies in my Christmas bin.  I might just have to hang it on the tree ;).

I loved the idea of newspaper on the tree.  And I added a few 'B's to just a few of my ornaments.  (B is for our last name, not my first name).   I also found this blank ad space I thought would be funny on a couple ornaments.

First you need a TON of paper.  Like, Holy Cow!  I used so much paper.  And keep extra when you finish the project just in case you need to make more ornaments or fix anything.  This is a mistake I made.

When I first made these, I was poor and wanted to make a super-homemade-version of glue instead of modge podge.  WORST CHOICE EVER.  Even Elmer's glue would have worked better than what I did.  I made a paste out of water and flour.  Yah, I'm an idiot.  So dumb.  These things have been falling apart and are so stinkin fragile, besides being made of thin glass.  One ornament in particular never made it out of the box because all the paper was falling off.  Awful.  So with all my other modge podge projects, I decided to pull these out and re-glue them.
So, I dabbed on some of my modge podge water (1:1 ratio) and waited for them to dry.  And WOW what a difference.  These will last many more years.

My other Christmas project fix were these sweet letters.
This is one of my favorite simple decor items for Christmas.  They just sit on the shelf.  I used the same water:flour junk that was on my ornaments so you can imagine these were falling apart too.  So, on with the modge podge.  Voila!  Easy fix.

I have at least one more Christmas project I will be working on in the next few days.  Maybe I will finish it before Christmas... we'll see. Wish me luck!

                            ......................................................................................................................

Aren't these just adorable? I love the newspaper print! Very chic for this time of year, so cute! Wanna see more from my amazing cousin? Check out her pinterest HERE! Seriously she pins the best stuff. Also, come back next friday to see another WAY CUTE project she has been working on!

Thanks again Britt!

Love,
Kal
